Apple IOS10 Release – Sept. 13, 2016

You may recall last the past few years, Apple releases new iOS versions around this time of year. Each year, the number of devices attempting to download the update nearly doubles; this year, we’re expecting about 35,000 devices to attempt to download IOS10. In the past, this has caused significant network congestion for a few days. We’ve had much better success managing this demand over the past two years with minimal service impact.

That time is once again upon us. Apple has announced that this Tuesday, 9/13 will be the day release day for IOS10, and has confirmed that 1:00 PM Eastern is the scheduled time of the release.

As always, we will do everything in our power to prevent any negative impact on your district operations. With that in mind, please be advised that there is an increased chance of network slowness, more so on your in-building WiFi Networks, as every Apple IOS device will attempt to download this very large update at the same time.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
