Reminder: Firewall Upgrade, Service Outage 2/12/17

Our core firewall upgrade is on track for this Sunday, February 12 starting at 10 AM. All Internet services will be offline briefly while we bring the new firewall online. While we expect the actual down time to be minimal, we have set the maintenance window until 1 PM to ensure sufficient time for troubleshooting and testing. All services should be restored and stable by 1 PM, and likely will be back online much sooner.

During this window, all SWOCA services, and services hosted at your district, will be inaccessible from the public internet. Remote VPN and SWOCA services will still be available from district locations during this maintenance. Also, we will be adding additional bandwidth to the link for the virtual server farm, so the link into between your location and the virtual data center may briefly be interrupted as well.

Once we have announced the work is completed, we are asking each district to conduct testing of any servers hosted inside your district that are exposed to the outside. This includes internally hosted web sites and email services. We also suggest that wherever possible, you check on cloud based services you rely on for daily operations, such as cloud based VoIP or third party applications. (SWOCA VoIP customers should not experience any service outage as those resources are hosted inside our data center.
