New Collaboration to Give Teachers Discounted Video Education Platform
The Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC) joined with the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network (MCOECN) Wednesday to announce a new plan that will allow teachers to obtain a video learning services platform at a steep discount.
The announcement was combined with a separate announcement that for the first time since the BEMC opened its offices just west of the Ohio State University (OSU) campus, three teachers will be moving into the facility to broadcast their lessons to classrooms around the state.
Geoffrey Andrews, the chief executive officer for MCOECN, the statewide network made up of Ohio's information technology centers, said that through a new collaborative, MCOECN will be able to offer a license to use the Zoom video communication platform for a $10 per teacher per school fee, and free use for students.
Andrews said video learning platforms used to cost thousands of dollars for schools, but now schools can set up their classrooms for video learning for the price of a smart board replacement.
MCOECN will now be marketing the use of the system to schools through the information technology centers.
